Celebrate National Lasagna Day with this delicious dish! Here are a few tips for making a healthier lasagna-

  • Swap out refined white lasagna noodles for a whole wheat or whole grain version
  • For a low carb lasagna, try using zucchini “noodles” in place of regular pasta
  • For a lighter meat lasagna, try 97% lean ground beef, ground turkey or a lean turkey sausage
  • Add veggies in between layers, such as chopped zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, carrots, mushrooms, spinach, peppers and onions
  • Use low-fat ricotta, cottage cheese, mozzarella or other cheese or try cutting the amount in half
  • Add flavor using garlic, fresh or dried herbs, and other salt-free seasonings
